Other inspirations for Kelly’s art come from fashion, music, and technology. Aside from painting and drawing, Kelly does make-up designs and also paints on clothing she makes. She is very interested in wearable art and eccentric fashions. Kelly’s love for music started at a young age when she first heard David Bowie's "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust" album. In her studio, Kelly always listens to music when she works, and each piece of her art is inspired in part by a specific song. Kelly’s interest in technology started with cars and airplanes and has drifted more recently into future technology and science fiction. Art Deco is one of Kelly’s favorite art movements and is an inspiration in her work. Cityscapes have been a recurring theme in her artwork in recent years and provide contrast to natural forms in her compositions. Many of her concepts are about these two worlds that she equally feels a part of: nature and modern culture. In her artwork, Kelly captures moments of contemplation by the characters and observers in our world.
